Melissa Boodoo is an award-winning Chinese-Trinidadian fine artist based in Toronto, Canada. Her work explores themes of self-identity, cultural heritage, and transformation, blending abstract and contemporary techniques to create visually evocative compositions. Drawing inspiration from water motifs such as koi fish, lotus flowers, and rippling ponds, her paintings serve as meditative reflections on resilience, change, and the passage of time.

Boodoo holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts & Interior Design with a Minor in Music & Culture from Ryerson University. Her background deeply influences her artistic practice in interior and furniture design, which informs her keen sense of spatial harmony, colour, and composition. Through her work, she seeks to bridge the personal and the universal, capturing the fluid nature of memory and belonging.

Her paintings have been exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions across Ontario, including
‘Art à la Carte’ at the Legislative Assembly of Ontario, ‘New Vistas: Echoes of Home’ at Etobicoke Civic Centre Art Gallery, and ‘Unity in Diversity’ at the Museum of Dufferin. Her collection "The Lotus and the Koi" received significant recognition, earning her the "Best in Show" award at the Museum of Dufferin's 'Unity in Diversity' exhibition in 2025, and the "People’s Choice Award" at 'New Vistas: Echoes of Home' in 2024.
