Melissa Boodoo is an award-winning Chinese-Trinidadian Canadian artist, author and designer based in Toronto. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Interior Design from Toronto Metropolitan University. She has exhibited in solo and group exhibitions across Ontario, including the Legislative Assembly of Ontario, Etobicoke Civic Centre Art Gallery, and the Museum of Dufferin. Her painting series The Lotus and the Koi has received notable recognition, including Best in Show (2025) and the People’s Choice Award (2024).

Water-based motifs; koi swimming upstream, lotus flowers, and rippling surfaces, recur throughout her work as symbolic reflections on resilience, change, and belonging. Through intuitive gestures and layered forms, Boodoo creates meditative spaces where personal history and collective memory intersect, inviting viewers into quiet moments of reflection and connection.
